Rooted in Bhopal, refined for the world
Maison Blanc began in 2016 as a six-room guesthouse on a quiet lane above Bhojtal—Upper Lake—where Ananya and Vikram Mehta hosted designers, musicians, and old friends between stints in Udaipur, Goa, and Bengaluru. The house was never meant to be a hotel; it was simply the calmest place they knew in a city they had chosen deliberately over louder metros.
By 2018, repeat visitors were booking weeks ahead. Rather than add floors, the Mehtas expanded thoughtfully: twenty-four keys total, each with cross-ventilation suited to Bhopal’s dry winters and monsoon evenings, rainfall showers, specialty coffee at dawn, and a concierge desk staffed by people who live in the neighborhood—not scripts imported from elsewhere.
Today the property sits between Shyamla Hills and the lake green belt—minutes from Van Vihar and the promenade, yet insulated by mature trees and white plaster interiors that frame Bhopal’s horizon instead of competing with it. We still measure success the way we did at the guesthouse: whether you leave feeling clearer than when you arrived.
